How to do Eigenvalue Analysis

  • These are the main reasons for unsuccessful runs

    • Elements with zero mass

    • Elements with zero radii of gyration

    • Too many free degree of freedoms

  • Check the table in <*>_stamod.res for info

    • LINE INFO - Mass and buoyancy data

1. Error message

The analysis stops with the error message:

S A M Library LANCZ1
Matrix B cannot be factorized

This means that the mass matrix cannot be factorized. Tip: Check the masses on elements & bodies used in the model

2. Tip

If you have trouble running the eigen value analysis, try to run a short dynamic run If the model is unstable in dynamic analysis, the eigen value analysis will not run
