1. Curved Plate Shape A curved plate shape represents a body as a surface of revolution swept from a profile curve — for example a conical or trumpet-shaped docking structure, funnel, or tapered shell. 1.1. Description The profile is a list of points, each giving a diameter at a distance along the shape’s local axis. SIMA revolves the resulting profile curve about that axis to form the surface; the included angle controls how far around the axis the surface is swept (360° gives a full body of revolution, a smaller angle gives an open arc). A plate may be solid or hollow. When Hollow is enabled the plate is given a wall of finite Thickness; the thickness field is hidden for solid plates because thickness only applies to hollow plates. The shape is placed in the model by the shared pose fields inherited from the generic shape: position (X, Y, Z) locates the local origin and rotation (Rot X, Rot Y, Rot Z) orients the axis of revolution, both relative to the owning body’s coordinate system. The Create example action in the Profile section is a quick way to see a valid configuration: it populates a hollow docking cone (included angle 360°, hollow, 0.02 m wall thickness, and a sample cylindrical-throat-to-wider-rim profile), replacing any existing profile items. 1.2. Fields X, Y, Z: Position of the shape origin relative to the body (m). Rot X, Rot Y, Rot Z: Rotation of the shape about its local axes (deg). Included Angle: Sweep angle of the surface about the local axis (deg). 360° gives a full surface of revolution. Hollow: When enabled, the plate has a finite wall thickness. Thickness: Wall thickness (m). Shown only when Hollow is enabled. 1.2.1. Profile A table defining the profile curve that is revolved about the local axis. Each row is one profile item: Distance Along Axis: Position of the point along the local axis (m). Diameter: Diameter of the surface at that point (m). 1.3.
