Regular line type

A line type contains the following properties referred to in a line description

  • Sequence of segments with homogeneous cross sectional properties.

  • Cross sectional component type, length and number of elements to be used for finite element discretization are specified for each segment

  • Nodal components for modeling of clump weights, buoys, swivels and hinges etc. can be specified at segment intersections.

  • Fluid component (FLUID) for description of possible internal fluid flow.

A line is a linear structural element between two supernodes which is identified by a line type.
This means that a line type can be referred several times in the system topology description, which is convenient for modeling of systems with several identical lines (e g anchor systems, parallel coupled riser system etc.).

Subdivision of elements for hydrodynamic calculation is used for cross sections Axisymmetric cross section, Double Symmetric Cross Section and Fish Net, corresponding to Riflex CRS3,CRS4 and CRS6 cross-sections. The default values are 3 for static analysis and 5 for dynamic analysis. To view this input (and other advanced line type input), right-click the simple or complete line type table and select customize table and add numSubElementsStatic and numSubElementsDynamic.
