Profile

A profile defines how a quantity (e.g. current speed) varies with depth or height. Profiles are used in current calculations to distribute wind-driven or base current over the water column.

1. Levels

The profile is defined as a table of depth/height levels and corresponding scaling factors.

Column Description

Level

Depth or height (m)

Factor

Dimensionless scaling factor at this level

A plot of factor versus level is shown alongside the table.
