1. Coordinate system

metocean system

  • A right-handed coordinate system. The angles are measured from North axis in a clockwise direction. North-East-Down

2. Wave

  • Wave direction: Coming from

    • Direction from which the waves are coming, i.e 90 degrees → wind is coming from East

3. Wind

  • Wind direction: Coming from

    • Direction from which the wind is blowing, i.e 90 degrees → wind is coming from East

  • Wind levels are measured from the mean water level positive upward

4. Current

  • Current direction: Going to

    • Direction wich the current is flowing to, i.e. 90 degrees → current is going to East

  • Current levels are measured from the mean water level positive downward
