Point Berthing Fender A Point Berthing Fender is as a contact element between a body and a globally fixed point. The model will give: A compressive force parallel to the normal vector of the sliding plane A friction force along the sliding plane The fender can either be point symmetric, giving friction in all directions along the sliding plane, or it can be defined as a roller. In the latter case only motion parallel to the rotation axis results in friction. Possible applications are sketched in figure below.
