Location In this editor you may change the physical properties for an actual location. The model location defines values for physical constants like acceleration of gravity and water density. It also defines the water depth used when calculating wave kinematics. Under the Location object contains a Sea Surface and a Flat Bottom. In addition one or more Infrastructure Bodies may be added. These objects are a part of the 3D visualization, but does not affect the simulation itself. 1. Physical constants Options : Acceleration of gravity Water density Air density Kinematic viscosity in water Kinematic viscosity in air 2. Water depth Kinematic water depth : This parameter is used in calculation of water particle motions. If Kinematic water depth is set to a large value, infinite water water depth theory will be used. The wave kinematic will be zero below the kinematic water depth. The hydrodynamic loads below the kinematic water depth will include the load due to current and motions in still water. 3. Global orientation This input is only relevant when using the Metocean Task. The initial navigation frame is a North West Up (NWU) frame of reference. The origin of the frame is the location of the global analysis frame. The X-axis points north, the Y-axis points west, and the Z-axis points up. Relative compass angle : This is the relative angle measured from the global x-axis to the compass North. That is the angle is in the anti-clockwise direction. If Relative compass angle = 0deg, the global coordinate reference system x-axis is aligned toward compass North. If Relative compass angle = 90deg, the global coordinate reference system y-axis is aligned toward compass North. 4. UTM zone X- and y-offset of the local coordinate system relative to the UTM zone.
