Global Spring

This component may be used to define arbitrary spring stiffness for translation or rotation in a global direction or in a global plane.

Springs are activated during static loading or at the start of dynamic analysis.

1. Parameters

1.1. Location

  • Line: Line identifier

  • Segment: Local segment number within the line

  • Node number: Local node number within the segment

1.2. Properties

  • Degree of freedom

  • Linear damping coefficient

  • Stiffness proportional damping factor


Spring stiffness code:

  • Constant stiffness

  • Nonlinear stiffness defined by a table of force vs. displacement pairs

If the table option is selected, the spring stiffness is determined from the specified table. Add a table with force and corresponding displacement values.
