1. How to debug

  • Searching for errors

  • Simo and Riflex result files from navigator and workflow sheet

  • Using graphical interface

  • Step though the workflow layers

  • Comparing models - compare function

2. Searching for error

  • When a run-time error occurs, the failing part of the workflow will be marked with an error sign and an error dialog will appear.

  • The error dialog will give a hierarchy of error messages, enabling the user to find cause of the error.

  • When the post processor is not giving results as expected, one may use the inspect option on the post processor box in the workflow diagram to open the post processor with data from the workflow.

3. Example: Riflex failure in stamod

Run a condition or condition set in the navigator

run static

Inspect failed result in navigator

stamod failed

4. Static loading has failed

  • Check the loading steps

  • Check the stamod.res file for info

  • Either open the file in SIMA

sima stamod res

Or use open the file folder using Explore and open the stamod.res file Search for the error and information in the stamod res -file

explore
open with
view file

5. Run using a workflow

If the model is run using a workflow, you can also find the stamod res file

run from start
workflow error

You can also see the error by pointing at the red error icon

wf status

6. Right click on the workflow diagram and choose Explore

wf explore
wf explore 2
wf explore 3

7. Rerun only failed conditions in a condition set

condition errors

Condition failed with given values

configure runvars

Set new values on variables

changed vars

and try to rerun

rerun

8. Use the graphical interface to track the problem

You can see the tension and curvature in the graphical interface This can be used to locate the problem

3d
  • Select tension or curvature

max scalar
  • Set the range

set legend
set legend range
  • Hint: use the stamod result to check the range

failed stamod
plot

9. How to track errors in workflows

  • Example:

    • Case with ending up with no results

empty res
  • Use inspect and select the workflow to run

inspect
inspect set
  • Rerun with clearing inspected inputs

rerun wf
  • This will rerun the workflow using the input from Run 1

inspect node
  • If the input is ok, use Inspect and check the workflow

inspect wf
rerun wf 2
signal sel
node correct

The node number was set to 390, should be 39 in the workflow set Correct and rerun the workflow ser

10. Compare function

  • Two models can be compared in SIMA

  • Choose two models or the parts you want to compare

compare 1
compare 2
compare 3
