  • Damping can also be set on cross sections

  • The damping on cross section will replace the global damping in dynmod

5. Recommendations

  • It is recommended to use only stiffness proportional damping, \(\alpha_2\)

  • Mass proportional damping, \(\alpha_1\) , may introduce damping of the rigid body motion If you have compression in the system, Total Stiffness Damping may give negative damping in the system. In these cases, it is suggested to use choose Material Stiffness Damping
