SIMA Coordinate System

1. Coordinate systems

  • Compass system (metocean)

    • Can be seen in 3D view as compass needle

  • Global coordinate system

    • Can be rotated with respect to compass definition

    • If metocean data convention is used as input, the relative angle can be used to convert the the wave, wind and current direction to SIMO/Riflex convention

      • Example: 0 degree in metocean, mean wave propagating from North to South

      • Note this must be processed by the user and is not automatically done by SIMA

  • Body coordinate system

    • Can be rotated with respect to global system

  • Relative compass angle = 45deg

  • Rz, initial rotation abut z-axis = 0deg
