Static Calculation Key Parameters 1. Matrix storage This option controls the form of the system matrices used to represent the structure in the finite element analyses. Skyline : recommended for simple systems in which all elements are ordered in continuous lines. Sparse : recommended for more complicated systems with branching lines, contact elements apart from seafloor contact or where several lines are connected to a SIMO body. It will be significantly more efficient for these systems. If in doubt, choose Sparse. Skyline must be chosen for eigenvalue and VIV frequency domain analyses! 2. Load and mass formulation Lumped : element loads will give forces at the end nodes of each element Consistent: loads will give forces and moments at the end nodes of each element 3. Current profile scaling This may be used to scale the current profile given in the environment. The scaling factor will be applied to all velocities in the current profile. 4. Use stress-free configuration (from file) The static analys smay be started from a stress-free configuration read from an input file. The option is useful for effective modelling of pre-bent sections. The format of the file is described in Define Stressfree Configuration - input reference.
