1. Cross sections

This section includes specification of the cross sections that are used to define the beam and bar elements in the lines and segments used to model slender structures. The cross-section specification includes

  • mass and physical dimensions per unit length

  • stiffness properties

  • damping properties

  • hydrostatic and -dynamic loading

  • aerostatic and -dynamic loading

Components may be added to include features that are not well represented by beam and bar elements; e.g. joints, contact, internal fluid and marine growth.

The following cross section components are available:

A Stress joint may be used to automatically generate multiple Thin-walled pipe pipe cross sections for conical sections.

Each cross section must have an unique name.

The maximum number of cross sections and component types is 500 in the present version.
